
Providing Clinical health care
- Provide healthcare services following the guidelines and regulations of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) profession.
- Focus on clients' health problems by implementing history taking, physical assessment, differential diagnosis, disease treatment plans, and monitoring care outcomes.
- Provide excellent and safe care based on evidence-based practice.
- Document a client’s needs and the healthcare process effectively.
- Provide patient-focused care services, including health promotion, disease prevention, reducing suffering, teaching and consultation, managing diseases, maintaining and recovering health.
- Utilize evidence in clinical reasoning when explaining to patients their laboratory results, diagnosis and disease conditions to patients reduce anxiety and confusion.
- Seek advice from licensed medical professionals or doctors in a timely manner when clients’ medical problems exceed the NP's scope of practice.
- Measure treatment progress using clinical evidence and provide feedback to clients about their condition.
- Plan and implement evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention measures for clients.
- Stay informed about laws and ethics, and intervene when necessary (via negotiation or through a legal representative).
Education
- Evaluate the learning needs and priorities of clients, communities, and healthcare teams accurately.
- Design education plans using appropriate learning theories, teaching methods, and evaluation strategies tailored to clients.
- Seek opportunities for learning and actively participate in the professional development of NP.
- Advocate for and engage lifelong learning to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with medical teams to achieve a common healthcare mission and goal to improve the quality of care.
- Through support, guidance and education, foster sound working relationship with colleagues, students and other medical professionals to enhance the quality of care.
Care quality / Research
- Consolidate current best evidenced-based practice, clinical experience, and client’s preferences to continuously enhance quality of care in the clinical settings.
- Collect information regarding NP care outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of NP practice.
- Use critical thinking to evaluate and improve the quality of care for clients.
- Conduct NP-related research using scientific methods, including data collection, analysis, and discussion.
- Analyze contributing factors to unsafe situations and identify different factors that can mitigate risk and reduce the likelihood of similar situations occurring.
- Apply peer review processes to provide feedback aimed at enhancing care quality and motivating self-growth.
Leadership / Professional development
- Clarify roles and responsibilities to clients when delivering healthcare services.
- Promote the effectiveness of NP healthcare to employers, society, the general public, lawmakers and policymakers.
